A woman has been airlifted to hospital after falling ill at a luxury resort on Dubai’s World Islands development.
Dubai Police sent their air unit as she needed immediate medical attention. The woman, from India and in her 30s, was taken to Rashid Hospital.
His condition was not disclosed. Police did not say when the incident happened, but said they had to contend with harsh weather conditions to reach the location at Anantara World Islands Dubai Resort.
“We have received an emergency call that a woman, in her 20s, has fallen ill at Anantara World Islands Dubai Resort,” said Colonel Khalfan Al Mazroui, deputy director of the police air wing. from Dubai.
Rescue teams struggled to reach the resort due to low visibility, high winds and high waves.
“Visibility was very low, just 1,500 meters, while the wind speed was 40 knots, causing high waves and strong currents,” said Col Al Mazroui.
“A team of paramedics were immediately dispatched aboard a Dubai Police helicopter and provided necessary first aid to the patient before airlifting her to Rashid Hospital.”
Colonel Al Mazroui said the Dubai Police Air Wing regularly performs specialist humanitarian and community duties such as providing ambulance services, carrying out search and rescue missions and monitoring roads.
He urged members of the public to report emergencies to 999 or send distress calls (SOS) through the Dubai Police smart app.
